Inspiration comes in many forms, one never knows when or where you may find it. This story started months ago while visiting friends at Elmbend farms. We were innocently walking the grounds, catching up on local chatter, when what did my wandering eyes fall upon but the most beautiful, perfectly aged 1964 Mercury truck. It was a faded weathered red from years of work. Its seats were worn and it was touched by rust in all the right places as if to tell a story of its life on the farm. It was a workhorse of sorts passed down generations and it held more stories than one could tell. It captured my heart and I knew then that I had to have it in pictures. It would be the foundation for our fall shoot with props and furniture from Warehouse 84.
Its incredible to see how fast the leaves change once the air starts to chill. The days get shorter and the nights get colder; all signs of another season passing yet one that offers so much inspiration. Fall is my favourite time of year for the colours that it offers. Its a time of harvest and celebration and this is where the next piece of the story came in. Walking the property of Warehouse 84 I came upon a magnificent apple tree laden with ripe fruit. The apples were catching the last warm rays of October sun which made their colours of greens and reds come alive. It was decided then that we would use the apples to set the theme.
Well with two pieces of the puzzle in place the rest came together so naturally. I brought together a variety of wooden crates and accented them with vintage milk cans and cream jars to compliment Elmbends Dairy Farm. We stacked the bed of the truck with tool boxes, straw bails and a lovely green trunk to set the stage for these incredible pictures from Melissa of Moments by Melissa Miller Photography
With more couples wanting to explore different experiences and adding personal touches to their weddings, we chose to focus on styling beautiful settings. Working with our flower girls and ring barer we created playful settings for all to enjoy. A vintage dressing table set with delicate florals and an elegant champagne blush sitting chair adorned the lawn and gave us yet another opportunity to capture amazing shots. The girls enjoyed being caught up in the moment pretending to be our bride. Dressing in gloves and veil they stole the moment.
A vintage inspired picnic complete with blankets and pillows, vintage props and lovely floral accents from Sue Gallo Designs was nestled under the majestic willow that shadows the property.
And a party just wouldn’t be the same without cake. We finishing off the day creating a quaint little cake table accented with vintage suitcases, one of our favourite scales and of course more apples.
We wanted to make sure not to leave out any details. Creating an event is all about the details, they are the finishing touches that personalize the venue and every picture taken. The settings you create welcome your guests, create conversation and best of all tell a story about you and your special day.
